What Is an Aluminium Window Respray?
A respray is a full-colour application to the surface of aluminium window or door frames—either to restore the existing colour, change to a new colour, or achieve a consistent finish across frames that have become uneven or faded.
It is different to a localised chip or scratch repair (see aluminium window frame repairs), which targets specific damage on an otherwise good frame. A respray covers the whole frame or a defined section for a consistent, refreshed result.

Our Respray Process

Inspect and assess
We check the condition of the frames, the existing finish and any areas of corrosion, damage or previous patching that need to be addressed before coating. -
Prepare and mask
Glass, seals, walls and surrounds are masked carefully. Frames are cleaned, degreased and lightly abraded to provide good adhesion for the new coating. -
Prime (where required)
Bare aluminium, heavy corrosion or problematic existing coatings may require a primer before the topcoat. -
Apply topcoat
Colour-matched topcoat is applied in consistent passes for an even, smooth result. Multiple coats are applied where needed for full coverage and colour depth. -
Remove masking and inspect
Masking is removed and the frames are inspected for coverage, consistency and edge definition. Any minor touch-ups are made before leaving site.
Typical result: ready for normal use within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you change the colour of my window frames? Yes. A full respray can change the colour of aluminium frames to most standard or custom colours. We can colour-match to Dulux, Colorbond or existing frame samples.
How long does a respray last? A well-prepared and properly applied coating on clean, sound aluminium can last many years under normal conditions. Results depend on the quality of the existing substrate, preparation and the level of UV and weather exposure.
Is it better to respray or replace? For frames that are structurally sound but cosmetically poor, a respray is usually far more cost-effective than replacement. We will tell you honestly if replacement is a better option—for example, if the aluminium has significant corrosion or structural issues.
Do I need to remove the frames? In most cases, no. We carry out on-site resprays with the frames in place, masking carefully to protect surrounding surfaces.
Can you match the colour of my existing frames? Yes. We can colour-match to existing frames where you need new or repaired sections to blend with the original finish.
What about window seals and gaskets? We mask seals and gaskets during the respray. If seals need replacement, that is a separate trade; we will advise if we identify any seal issues during the job.
