Furniture Restoration
Furniture takes a lot of daily punishment. Dining tables get scratched, chairs get knocked, bedheads get scuffed, veneer lifts, burns happen and finishes wear through. Most of the time, the piece itself is in perfectly good structural condition—it just needs the cosmetic damage repaired.
Magicman provides furniture restoration services across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. We repair cosmetic damage to timber, veneer, laminate and painted furniture, colour-matching and refinishing the affected area on-site wherever possible.

How We Approach Furniture Repairs
Every piece is different. Before starting, we assess:
- the material type (timber species, veneer, lacquer, polyurethane, oil, paint, laminate)
- the nature and depth of the damage
- whether repair or refinishing is the right approach
- what result is realistic given the piece’s condition and age
We will tell you honestly if the repair is likely to blend well or if the expectation should be managed—particularly on pieces with a very specific original finish, heavy patina or unusual colour.
Our general process:
- Assessment — identify material and finish; confirm suitability for repair
- Surface preparation — clean and prepare the damaged area
- Fill and shape — build up chips, gouges and losses to the surrounding level
- Colour match — mix and apply pigments to match the surrounding area
- Finish match — apply and blend the correct sheen level (matte, satin, gloss)
- Final check — inspect from normal viewing angles; refine as needed
On-Site vs Workshop
We carry out many repairs on-site in your home, rental property or commercial space. For larger pieces, pieces requiring full stripping and refinishing, or jobs that are impractical on location, we can discuss workshop options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you repair a chip in a veneer dining table? Yes. Veneer chips and losses are one of the more common furniture repairs we carry out. Results depend on the veneer type and the size of the loss, but most small to medium chips can be repaired and blended.
Can you fix burn marks on furniture? Yes, in most cases. Cigarette burns, candle marks and heat damage can often be repaired with filling, colour matching and refinishing. The result depends on how deep the burn has gone—we will assess from photos.
Will the repair be visible? The goal is always a repair that is not obvious at normal viewing distance. On some pieces—particularly very old, heavily patinated or unusual-finish items—an exact invisible match is difficult, and we will tell you this upfront.
Do you repair flat-pack or laminate furniture? Yes. We repair chips, edge damage and scuffs in laminate and flat-pack furniture, though the results on very low-quality laminate can be more limited than on solid timber or quality veneer.
Can you come to a rental property? Yes. Rental property furniture repairs between tenancies are a common job type for us.
How do I get a quote? Send us photos of the piece and the specific damage. A close-up of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item both help us assess the job accurately.
